A horse has been hit by a car after it escaped from a field near Maidstone this morning (August 30).

The incident happened on the B2015 Maidstone Road at the turnoff for the B2162 Hampstead Lane, near the village of Nettlestead Green at around 7am.

Police are at the scene where traffic has been moving slowly and the road was partially blocked.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 7.42am on 30 August 2017 following a collision in Maidstone Road, Wateringbury.

“It involved a car and a horse, believed to have run from a field. Police are at the scene.”

It is not yet known if the horse or anyone else has been injured in the crash.
